Halvard Daniel Grosvold, 50, Prince William Street, Westville passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at his home due to complications from diabetes. Hal was a son of Olaf and Betty (Dunn) Grosvold, Sylvester, N.S. Hal leaves to mourn his beloved wife Dawn (Sanford), Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow; son Daniel, a student at NSCC in Truro; older brother Michael , sister-in-law Cheryl, niece Leann and nephew Erik; older sister Inga Grosvold and niece Sarah Khan; younger sister Annie Alda, nephews Jordan, J.D. and Eirik, and great-nephew Evan MacQuarrie; younger sister Hazel Sheehan, brother-in-law Dennis Sheehan and nephews Thomas and Jeffrey Sheehan. He also leaves many relatives and friends throughout Canada, the USA and Norway. Hal (alias Gros) grew up in Riverview, New Brunswick where he attended Riverview High School and the Moncton Community College. Hal enjoyed his career within Sobeys Head Office where he put his academics and computer skills to great use. Hal enjoyed everyone’s company and he had a great sense of humor. He was selfless and a family man who was very proud of his son Danny’s many accomplishments, in particular his art work. Hal especially enjoyed playing football, cards and trivia games. He will always be remembered for his infamous lasagna, garlic bread and butter tarts. While around others, he would artfully praise his hunting, fishing, and card playing skills as being superior to his family and friends - his version of fact and fiction didn’t always match up! He was adored by his nephews and nieces who learned many tv / movie trivia factoids from him. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A private family grave side service will be held at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Sylvester under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca In lieu of flowers a donation to the Canadian Diabetic Association or MS Society or a charity of choice. "We miss Hal terribly already and hope that he has found peace. We hope Heaven is ready for Hal."
