Obituary of Marion Claire Dort

Marion Claire Dort, 87, of New Glasgow, NS. passed away on Sunday 9 February 2025 at the Aberdeen hospital (Palliative Care) New Glasgow, NS.

Marion was born in Montreal, QC to Henry and Gladys Bilney on 1 September 1937. An extremely friendly and social person, Marion enjoyed being active, cottage life, volunteering in the community, playing cards and most of all family time. 

Marion is survived by her three sons Ronald Dort, Arnold (Sandy) Dort, and Keith Dort, granddaughter Jessica Dort, sisters Joyce Robertson and Gloria Dort, along with her companion of 10+ years, Vernon Taylor. She is proceeded in death by her husband of over 51 years Havelock Dort, brothers Harry and Donald Bilney, and parents Henry and Gladys Bilney. 

Visitation will be held at the Eagles funeral home Westville NS on Saturday 15 February 2025 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held at a future date in Montreal QC. 

The family would like to extend a thank you to Dorothy and the late George Lochead of Sylvester, NS for their generosity and kindness as neighbours in her previous home in Sylvester NS and lastly, her nephews and nieces in particular, Russ/Maureen, and Barb, for their never ending help and support over the last few years.
