Obituary of Susan Elizabeth Jackson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Elizabeth Jackson of Westville, age 64, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Her wish was fulfilled as she passed away at home in the presence of her two children.
Susan was a member of the last graduating class of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing in 1980. After graduation, she began her nursing career in Halifax and then transitioned into acute care at the Needles Desert Communities Hospital in Needles, California. After moving back to Nova Scotia in the late 1990’s, Susan continued her career at Valley View Villa and most recently with the VON.
She enjoyed spending time at Seafoam Campground with her family, cheering at her children’s sporting events, travelling around the province to sightsee and camp, fires in the back yard “burn barrel”, picking raspberries and rhubarb in her garden, lounging in the sun by the pool with her grand-dog Moose and attending the Westville Canada Day Celebrations.
Susan is survived by daughter Veronica Deno (Tim), Westville; son Aric Deno (Danielle), Westville; brother Charles “Chuck” Jackson (Muriel), West River Station; sister Joanne MacMillan (Jim), Millbrook and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by father Charles “Sonny” Jackson, mother Muriel Jackson, sister Judith “Judy” Jackson and nephew Travis Jackson.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses with the Aberdeen Hospital Oncology Clinic and Pictou County Palliative Care, the VON and the Sobey Cancer Support Centre for their exceptional care throughout Susan’s illness.
Visitation will take place at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville from 5:00-8:00pm on February 15th. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on February 16th, at Bethel Baptist Church, Westville. Interment will be in St. Bees’ Cemetery at a later date.
Donations if desired may be made to the Pictou County Palliative Care Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
