Obituary of Deana Elizabeth Parker
Deana Elizabeth (Watters) Parker
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Deana Elizabeth Parker, who passed away February 18th, 2025, at the age of 67 at the Aberdeen Hospital, with her children by her side.
Our beloved mother & Nan was born October 30th, 1957, in New Glasgow to her loving parents Willard and Flossie (Gammon) Watters, the second youngest of eight kids. Deana spent all her life here in Pictou County and later raised her family here.
Deana attended West Pictou High School, later earning her certificate in Tourism & Hospitality from NSCC. She had an impeccable work ethic and would often work multiple jobs at once including: Canada Post, the New Glasgow Marina, the Wellness Center & previously the Glasgow Square. She was a familiar face to many in the community. She also spent her summers working at the New Glasgow Marina.
Deana was an avid gardener and was known for her way around the kitchen. She took pride in everything she did. You would often find her at the baseball field in her earlier years both playing and coaching. She will be forever remembered cheering on her beloved Maple Leaf’s, (maybe this will be their year) and always enjoyed watching curling. Her greatest accomplishments were her five children and 14 grandchildren. You could often find her cheering them on from the stands at a hockey game, local exhibitions, dance competitions, among many other events.
Deana is survived by her children Wally (Jaime), Wade (Chelsea), Matt (Anna), Ashley (Nick), and Kelsey (Jamie); grandchildren Kaleb, Avah, Evan, Cameron, Jacob, Dylan, Chloe, Luca, Logan, Ephraim, Alexis, Lily, Karmyn, and Jack; brother Rae (Sandra); chosen sisters Norma and Sandra; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents Willard and Florence (Gammon) Watters; sister Wilda Rorison, Sandra Fortune, Catherine Rae; and brothers Clarence Watters, Scott Watters, and Tommy Watters
Visitation will be held February 21st, 2025 at Eagles Funeral Home from 2-4pm & 6-8pm, with the funeral following on February 22nd, 2025 at 11am, at Eagles Funeral Chapel. A reception will follow at the West River Fire Hall. Internment will be held at a later date.
Donations in Deana’s name may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
