Obituary of June Emily Williams

On February 21, 2025 the world lost a legend. June Emily Williams has packed her bags one final time, setting off on the road again to reunite with the love of her life, Jackie (John) Williams, who adored her beyond words.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, June was the second of 11 children and the cherished daughter of the late Herbert and Bella (Deagle) Dunn. According to her sister Madeline, she was the apple of her father’s eye—a fact that the rest of her siblings would begrudgingly, but wholeheartedly, agree with.

She was predeceased by her husband Jackie, her parents Herb and Bella Dunn, and her siblings Madeline (Rollie) Doiron, Danny, Gary, Larry David (in infancy), and Helen Irene (in infancy).

She leaves behind three daughters— Donna Boyle (Gordon), the oldest and Mom said, “a go getter.”  Paula (Robert) Pellerine, the self-proclaimed “rotten middle one,” but who was according to Mom, the most reliable. She could call Paula for anything. And Bernice Williams, the spoiled brat or the favorite child depending on who you ask, who Mom said was “all over the map.” She was the fiercely proud Nanny Nanny to Melissa (Andy) MacDonald, John Boyle, John Sauve, Daniel Boyle, Jarod Campbell (Olivia Raiche-Tanner), Felix (Alice) Juniper, and Sam Theriault, and the beloved Great-Nanny Nanny to James Pellerine, Rory MacDonald, and Myra MacDonald. She is also survived by her siblings Norma (Norman) Legro, Tommy Dunn, Sheila (Bert) MacLeod, Kenny Dunn, LaVerne Wholer, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

After marrying Jackie, they settled in his old homestead in Glencoe, where June singlehandedly started thinning the deer population. When Dad became ill, she made the practical but reluctant move to Stellarton. And in the last two years, she found a new sense of community at Haven Brook Manor.

June spent over two decades working at Michelin.  Where she shared in friendships, fun, and laughter among her colleagues.

June never met a bargain she didn’t like and could spot a red sales sign or a Blue Light Special from a mile away. She was a woman who always had her hand up first when it came time for travel of any sort—be it a TOPS rally, a convention, a bus trip to the casino, or any adventure that promised good company and a few laughs.

Her hands were never idle—whether baking (sometimes with a pair of bloomers on her head as a makeshift hairnet), packing a suitcase for a trip, shuffling the cards for a game of rummoli, or sewing a tea-towel. It could be debated that she wasn’t a hoarder, per se, but let’s just say she never met a trinket she didn’t like.

She was full of life and always ready for the next adventure—bag packed, just waiting for an invitation. She was infamous for her humor—spicy, sharp, and perfectly timed. Her love, her laughter, and her signature eye roll (so dramatic you could practically hear it) will be dearly missed.

She will be laid to rest beside Jackie in the Sunny Brae Cemetery—in a plot that was once an old road, the perfect resting place for a couple who spent countless hours in the car.

Visitation is Wednesday, February 26th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Eagles funeral home in Westville. A celebration of June’s life will be held on Thursday, February 27, 11am at Eagles Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at the Westville Legion.  In honor of June remember to always have a bag packed for your next adventure and never pass on a bingo game.

Donations in June’s memory may be made to the 50 + Club New Glasgow – one of her favorite places to share friendships, Palliative Care at the Aberdeen Hospital or a charity of your choice.
