Obituary of Lorna Graham
Lorna Allen Graham (nee MacQuarrie) of Halifax, passed away March 19th, 2025 at the QEII VG Site.
Born in Lorne, on February 1, 1932, she was the youngest daughter of the late John and Annie (MacPherson) MacQuarrie. She attended school in Lorne and Stellarton High before going to the Provincial Normal College where she received her teaching license. After teaching for 3 years in Pictou County, she met and married Raymond Graham of Gairloch. Together they moved to Digby, where their 4 children were born. In 1963, the family moved to Halifax where Lorna returned to teaching. She loved teaching and is warmly remembered by many former students.
Lorna was always active in her local church (both Fairview United and Salem Presbyterian). She enjoyed the UCW, choir and Church Councils. She particularly enjoyed working and encouraging the youth through Sunday school and Youth Group. When she was no longer able to easily get out, she stayed connected to her wide circle of friends via Facebook!
She is survived by her children; Nancy Hayter (Bob), Debbie Burch (Rob), Alan (Vicky) and Glenn; grandchildren Ruth (Steve), Sarah (Adam), Adam, Lori (Dan), Cheryl, Heather (Eli) and Kenneth (Kai); great-grandchildren Jenna, Kelsey, Raymond, Alison, Graeme, Mae and George; sister-in-law Marie as well as many nieces and nephews. Lorna was predeceased by her husband Raymond; grandson Graeme; brothers JohnAlex, Edgar, and Byrchill; sisters Mabel, Almira, Shirley, Anne, Helen; companion and friend Murray.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Sunday March 23 in the Eagles Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Monday March 24 at 11am in the Eagles Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place in St. Andrews Cemetery, Gairloch. Reception will be held in the Middle River Church Hall following the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salem Presbyterian Church or the organization of your choice.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers from Closing the Gap for the wonderful care Mom has received over the past year, and to the Palliative Care nurses and doctors who cared for her over the past two weeks.
