Obituary of Sophia Kathleen Young

Sophia Kathleen Young passed away on Sunday April 13^th 2025 at the Aberdeen Hospital. Born on January 16^th 1933, she was the daughter of the late William & Julia (Chassion) Benoit.

Kathleen lived a very fulfilled life, she enjoyed spending her time out in the garden tending her flowers or inside when the weather was poor knitting & sewing, she also took great enjoyment in preparing a meal for the family. Her greatest joy was her children. Being a loving mother to seven children was no task for the weak.

Kahleen is survived by children Lenora (Eddie) Stevens, Viola (David) Miller, Billy Young, Jervis Young, Veronica (Liam) Young, Lorraine (Rich) Young, Margie (Rick) White; grandchildren Joey Stevens, Tommy Stevens, Chastity, Julia, Michael, Sophie, Chelsea, Cody, Jean Guy, Kaitlyn and Jenna; 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; sisters Beatrice, Berthina and Merilda; brothers James and Mike and many nieces and nephews who still reside in Newfoundland.

She was predeceased by her husband Israel Joseph Young; parents William and Julia (Chassion) Benoit; sister Regina “Jean” and brothers Howard, Gervais and Thomas.

Visitation will take place on Thursday April 17^th from 1-1:45pm with the funeral service to follow at 2pm In the Eagles Funeral Home. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
