James MacIntosh

Obituary of James Elmer MacIntosh

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Elmer MacIntosh (70) of New Glasgow after a courageous battle with cancer. James passed away on Sunday, May 18th 2025 at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow with his loving daughter at his side.

Born in Pictou on January 12, 1955, he was a son of the late Annie “Isabel” (Henderson) and James “Jim” Wm. MacIntosh.

Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his older brother Fraser MacIntosh, older sister Mary McIntosh, brother in law Joe Corbett and one grandchild; Grace Bernard.

James will be dearly missed by his daughter April MacIntosh, Truro. He will also be sadly missed by his brother and sisters, Lloyd MacIntosh (Judy), Scotsburn; Margaret Mackenzie (John), Scotsburn; Lillian MacIntosh, Central Caribou. He leaves behind grandchild, Savannah, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

James was a devoted and loving father, whose unwavering commitment and affection for his daughter was evident in every aspect of his life. His dedication extended to his work, as he held a variety of jobs over the years, always adapting and giving his best. However, as time passed, health challenges began to take their toll, making it more difficult for him to keep up with the work he truly enjoyed.

With  a deep appreciation for a diverse range of music, James enjoyed everything from the energetic rhythms of rock and roll to the heartfelt melodies of country, each genre resonating with him in its own unique way. His love for adventure wasn’t limited to music though, he was also a true motorcycle enthusiast, often finding freedom and peace on the open road, until his diminished vision made it too difficult for him to ride anymore.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at High Crest Home in New Glasgow for the compassionate care and support they provided to James throughout the years.

A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
