Obituary of Karen Rose MacKenzie

Karen Rose MacKenzie, age 62, of Westville passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2025 at home. Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late David and Verna (Purvis) MacKenzie.

Karen has been a longtime resident of Westville where she was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, refinishing furniture, and was a member of the Westville Garden Club. Karen loved her dogs, they were her faithful companions. She loved to spend time and go for drives with her “Very Best Friend” Billy MacKenzie.

She is survived by sister Heather (Dennis) Benoit; brother Paul (Coleen) MacKenzie; nephews David Benoit (Kristy Lynn), Benjamin MacKenzie; niece Latisha Benoit (Craig Sinclair); uncles Eldred (Margie) MacKenzie, Bernie Purvis (Frances Phinney); aunt Eileen MacKenzie and her “Very Best Friend” Billy MacKenzie.

She was predeceased by her parents David and Verna; brothers Graham MacKenzie and Timothy MacKenzie and her step-father Hugh Hill.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm on Tuesday, May 27 in Eagles Funeral Home, 1611 North Main Street, Westville from where funeral service will be held at 3 pm with father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow.
