Obituary of Mary Viola Bezanson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Viola Bezanson, who peacefully left us in the early morning hours of June 16, 2025, after a brave battle with cancer. Viola was a cherished daughter, sister, partner, aunt, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Viola was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a loving dog mom to her precious Tessa and a true crafter at heart—creating beautiful quilts and intricate cross-stitches that she generously gifted to friends and family over the years. Her love for thrifting was a joy to those who shared it with her, and she had a gift for finding treasures that reflected her unique spirit.

For 32 years, Viola worked as a cook at Valley View Villa. She also worked at various other establishments, including Digby Pines, Chris’s Place, McCraes, and McLeod’s, among others. Viola's love for life and work never wavered, and she was a steadfast presence wherever she went.

Viola leaves behind her loving partner, Bob Nason Jr, her mother, Donelda Bezanson; her brother, Burce Bezanson (Gordie); and her sisters, Cindy MacLean (Ed), Cathy Coady, Karen Smith(Donnie), and Lee Bezanson (Dennis). She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Gail Nason  and  Janet Baxter and her nieces and nephews, Matthew, Katherine, Megan, Ashley, and Michelle Great nephews Max, Leeland, Tristan, Finn, and great niece Peanut, as well as many extended family members

She was predeceased by her father, Donald Bezanson.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville. A celebration of Viola’s life will follow at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in the Thorburn Cemetery.
