Obituary of Anne Carol Fraser
The family of Anne Fraser are deeply saddened to announce her passing after a bravely fought battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Anne faced her illness with characteristic strength and grace. Anne leaves behind her beloved and devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Tom Sr, sons Tom Jr (Victoria) of Pictou Nova Scotia, Stephen (Tracy) of Edmonton Alberta, and Devin (Tammy) of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Anne was a loving and dedicated grandmother to Costel (Perry), Emilee (Josh), Cole (Brittany) Nat, Olivia, and Sydney, and great-grandmother to Scarlett and Colton. She was fiercely proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a loving grandmother to the foster children who came through the family.
Anne was proud of her professional achievements and service, becoming one of the first certified pharmaceutical technicians in the province. She worked for many years in the pharmacy at Zellers, Shoppers Drug Mart and the Aberdeen hospital.
Anne was an avid traveller, enjoying the life of a Canadian snowbird in the years after her retirement. She and Tom also travelled with friends to Cuba and spent many weekends camping, creating great memories and great friends.
Anne loved the perfect cup of tea, book club and CNN. She loved family visits when her sons brought the grandchildren home to her house and ensured all their favourite items were prepared for meals around the family dinner table. She orchestrated many family dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas and become known to her grandchildren as the best cooker of fried haddock, meatloaf and tuna fish casserole, and the best baker of apple crisp. She fostered a lifelong love of reading and fine penmanship in her grandchildren. She was known among family members and friends for always remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and for giving small gifts that carried special significance to the receiver.
Anne was predeceased by her mother (Helen Valente), father (George Herman Jr), beloved grandfather (George Herman Sr), siblings David, Heather and Bill and beloved brother-in-law Allister.
Tom Sr and family would like to wholeheartedly thank those people who attended to Anne over the past several years. Special mention and love goes to Cindy Ward Degaust, who looked after Anne before she went into long term care and continues to show her service and dedication to Tom Sr, and the beautiful staff at the Oddfellows Home in Pictou who loved and looked after Anne over the last three years like she was their own close family member. Hugs especially to Maureen and Robin, who cared for Anne and also grieved the loss as their aunt. You are all angels among us.
Cremation has taken place. As per Anne’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A gathering will take place at a future date. In memory of Anne, please consider an act of kindness to someone in need.
