Jan and Lynn, I remember when we would gather at Christmas at Grandma and Grampa Polley's place in Coxheath and everyone would be there! Your mom was always such a sweet person, I have such fond memories of her. So sorry that I didn't hear until just now that she passed in August. Our mom died a year ago last March (Chris) and it's always hard to lose your mom even when you so grateful to have had them in your life for such an extraordinarily long time. So sorry for your loss. Thinking of you with fond memories, Susan (Polley) XO

Thinking of the Polley family during a difficult time and about much both Fred and Sally supported me as a young musician….as if I was a grandkid! I still have all the cards. Fred and I were in choir together when I was a teenager, so of course that’s how I became close with both him and Sally. We all would sit and talk about opera when folks in my life didn’t really know much about it. I always got a kick out of the way Fred would tease Sally and vice versa before he’d lay a sweet half cookie crumbed kiss on her cheek. He adored her. Sally lit up every room she walked into. Since the pandemic began and I moved away, I haven’t seen Sally, but I thought about her often. I carry around this little compact mirror she gave me.
Yesterday, I listened to a live Madama Butterfly-esque performance…. Fred loved and often sang bits of that opera to Sally. Perhaps a sign they've been reunited. May Sally rest in peace.

To Jan and Lynn and all of Sally's relatives, we have lost a gem of a woman. I've known Sally, and Fred, and their children, my entire life. My parents were friends with them and Fred and my dad both worked for CNR so their paths often crossed. At times we were also living in Sydney and ironically both couples ended up in Pictou County. Fred and Sally were a lovely couple, lots of fun, sweet and kind. When Fred passed away it was a great loss but Sally soldiered on and with the help of jan, was able to stay in her home to the end of her life. I ran into her, and jan, many times when I would be out shopping and she always asked about my children and my grandchildren and always cared and shared an interest in my life. I will truly miss not seeing her around anymore and I truly feel this loss. I love you Sally, you are now reunited with Fred, and in your beloved Cape Breton, where the sun always shines.
With the fondest of memories,
Carla ❤️
