Obituary of Roberta Margaret MacKean

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend Roberta Margaret (McDonald) MacKean, age 76, of Loch Broom, NS.

Originally from Westville, the daughter of the late Mike and Tena (MacPherson) McDonald.

Known to most as Mrs. Mackean, a dedicated teacher who loved every child she taught and truly enjoyed every moment of her career.

In retirement Roberta spent time crocheting up a storm as always, with her family and her new found passion bowling. She also continued to cheer on her favorite team the Blue Jays. She even fulfilled her dream of attending several games in Toronto and Boston. Roberta has alway been a curling fan as well and was able to attend many great curling events. She was enjoying life to the fullest.

Roberta survived by her children Yvonne Barbour (Blair), Cheryl MacKean (Derek), Stacey Hardy (Greg), Tara MacKean (Ken) and William Harry MacKean Jr.; grand children Piper, Aiden and Willow Barbour; Kenny and Logan Newcombe; Hayden, Kolby, Dominic and Karley Hardy; Cameron and Eva Paynter and Lexi McKillop; sister Andrella Hodder(Fred) brother Mike McDonald (Joyce); sister in-law Janie Sampson (Bob), Barb MacEachern (Bob).

She was predeceased by her forever love Billie MacKean, sister Rebecca McDonald, brother in law James (Jimmie) MacKean and in-laws George and Eva Mackean.

Roberta is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, with visiting on Friday 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at 2pm Saturday, August 9 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville. Burial will be in St. Bees Cemetery.

Donations can be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit and or St Bee’s Anglican Church.
