Obituary of Catherine Willenelia Fraser
Catherine Willenelia (Searle) Fraser, of Westville, passed away on November 17, 2025 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by the love of her family. Catherine was born on December 13, 1928 to the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Miller) Searle of Westville.
Catherine was a trained hair dresser, and also worked at the Adult Residential Center in Riverton for many years.
Catherine was known for her deep love of animals, especially her cat Sasha, with whom she shared a special bond. She had many talents, including gardening, creating delicious meals from scratch, and enjoying a good yard sale. In their younger years, Catherine and John loved to travel and camp, always on the lookout for a hidden fishing spot.
Catherine is survived by her son, Jackie (Linda); grandsons Ed Brown, Wade (Alice) Brown, Keith Brown, JD (Bev) Brown; son-in-law Ed Brown Sr.; granddaughters Cindy (Alex), Bonin, and Wanda Fraser; as well as many great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
Catherine was predeceased by her husband John, daughter Faye (Fraser) Brown and her only sister Mary Searle.
Special thanks goes out to her niece, Betty Sharpe and caregiver Marlene, for the time spent caring for Catherine.
In keeping with Catherine’s wishes, there will be a graveside service on Tuesday, November 25th, 2:00 pm, at Lorne Cemetery, Lorne. Donations in Catherine’s memory may be made to the Lorne Cemetery or the Pictou County SPCA.
Catherine will be missed and always in our hearts.
