Obituary of John Clyde Smith

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John C. Smith at the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Trenton, he was predeceased by his son Joseph B. Smith, his parents Eugene and Lily Smith, his brothers, Bill, Clarence (Buddy), and sisters Katherine (Kay), Dorothy (Dot), and Gloria.

Dad was generous with his time and talents, always finding a way to solve a problem and get a job done—often with a story of a similar repair and how it was far worse than the current one or simple by comparison. He will be remembered for the stories he loved to tell and all his hard work on cars for various customers, family, friends, and neighbours in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Agnes (Morrison), his daughters Linda (Tom) and Virginia (Wendell), his son Todd (Kenda), and his grandsons Adam and Joey. He is also survived by his brother George.

We would like to thank the VON and doctors and nurses on the second and fifth floor of the Aberdeen for their kindness during the short time Dad was there. Special thanks to Cathy and Gerry Guthro for always being there over the years.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11 from 6-8pm at Eagles Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held the following day at Eagles Funeral Home (Friday December 12) at 11:00AM, with a reception to follow at 1:00 PM at the Stellarton Legion lounge.
