Obituary of James Allen Mieske
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of James Allen Mieske on December 20, 2025.
Born in Toronto ON on May 28, 1946. His first job as a grocery bag packer started him on a road in life of years in the grocery industry, ending up as a grocery buyer for Sobeys before moving on and excelling in the car industry. He also loved his many years as owner of Seafoam campground and living by the sea.
Dad was a man defined by his selflessness and his deep love for his family. His legacy will continue to live on through them and through the countless memories he created with those he loved. For most of his life dad was never without a dog by his side, right up until recently when his beloved Flash passed. Dad got hooked on dog shows back in the late 70’s , volunteering & showing the wonderful collie Kerry. That passion was something he and mom shared.
Through his active involvement with the the Pictou Rotary Club and the United Way and many other community organizations. Jim’s steadfast leadership and selfless volunteerism touched countless lives, leaving behind a lasting legacy of service, compassion, and community spirit.
He will be missed by many but most of all by his wife of 62 years, Sally; and his daughter Yvonne ( Bobby) Westville and grandson Josh Mieske of Calgary; as well as his siblings and numerous other family members.
Predeceased by his parents and brother Jack. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hope for Wildlife or your local “no-kill” animal shelter can be made in Jim’s name.
