Obituary of Eleanor Mary Hunter

Eleanor Mary (Blanchard) Hunter, of Amherst, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on February 23, 2026. Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia. She was the eldest daughter of the late Herbert & Edith (White) Blanchard. Eleanor gave the best hugs, her smiles were never bigger than when she was surrounded by her family. 

Eleanor will be missed by her children, Herb (Karen) Hunter, Westville; Margaret (Wayne) Sullivan, Kentville;  Alexander (Mac) Hunter, Amherst; Ross Hunter, Sydney; Michelle (Paul) Webb, Ohio; Deborah (Austin) Bourque, Yarmouth; Irene Racine (Michel Hall), Quebec;  and Linda Daigneault (Denis Leveille), Quebec.  Grandchildren:  Craig, Daniel, Theresa, Katie, Josie, Amelia, Sara, Jeanette and Corey. Also many great and great-great grandchildren, sister Catherine (Harvey) Davis, Ontario; daughter-in-law, Brenda Forshner Canning, as well as nieces, nephews and dear friends. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her children, Geraldine Watkins and Donald Hunter;  brothers Arthur (infant), Donald, and Gerald Blanchard; sister Mary Hopkins; sisters-in-law Ella and Brenda Blanchard; brother-in-law Alexander (Mac) Hopkins and son-in-law Patrick G.K. Watkins. 

In keeping with Eleanor’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will follow at a later date.
In place of flowers, donations in memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
