Obituary of Marion Mahoney

Marion Mahoney, age 86, of Pictou, NS, passed away peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital on February 28, 2026.

Born on December 4, 1939, in Westville, she was the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (MacNeil) Stewart. Marion is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ray Mahoney (Pictou), and five children: Stewart Mahoney (Liz), Halifax; Philip Mahoney (Moe), Westville; Elizabeth Glenwright (Robert), Fredericton; Graham Mahoney, Victoria, BC; and Leslie Ford (Bill), Stellarton. She is also survived by her grandchildren: William, Kate, Jesse, James, David, Caroline, Jack, Jane & Kaleb and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Audrey, in 2015.

Marion graduated from the College of Pharmacy at Dalhousie University and spent her career working at various pharmacies, always offering care and compassion to those she met.

She had a love for music and the ocean, cherished time at the cottage, and found great joy in traveling with her husband. Yet it was Barbados that truly captured her heart, drawing her back year after year.

The family wishes to express their deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to the Palliative Care Unit at Aberdeen Hospital for the extraordinary compassion, kindness, and professionalism they so generously provided. They also extend a special thank you to the Oddfellows Home in Pictou for the care and love she received during her time there.

She will be forever missed and fondly remembered for her kindness, humor, generosity, love of animals, and unwavering loyalty to family and friends.

Her remains have been entrusted to Eagles Funeral Home, with a private family burial to be held at a later date.
