Obituary of Sybil Higgins
The family of Sybil Higgins, age 98, formerly of Lower Mount Thom, wish to announce her peaceful passing on March 4, 2026 at the Glen Haven Manor.
Sybil was the daughter of the late Henry and Alfreda (Richards) Hill. At an early age when she lost her parents, she was raised by Broff and Etta Silver.
In her early years, Sybil worked at Stanfield’s Work Wear in Truro. As an active member of her community, she was involved with the Ladies Aid and Women’s Institute at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church in Salt Springs. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by daughters Barbara Robinson and Marilyn Higgins; son Brian (Deborah) Higgins; grandchildren Sandy Ross Robinson (Amanda), Stephen Robinson, Bryan Higgins (Christine); great-grandchildren Jax and Jacob Robinson and Shelby, Shawn, and Abagail Higgins; and brother Ray (Mary) Hill.
She was predeceased by her husband Ross of 47 years; good friend Fred Auld; sons-in-law Sandy Robinson and Sandy Rundle; sisters Florence, Joyce, Rose, and Barbara; brothers Charles and Gordon.
Visitation will be held at Eagles Funeral Home on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 1-2pm with a funeral service at 2pm. A reception will follow. Burial will take place at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens in the Spring.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Caroline and Dr. Barclay, and also the staff at Glen Haven Manor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of one’s choice.
