Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Hill

Elizabeth Ann Hill passed away at the age of 65 on May 3rd, 2026.
Born in St. John’s, August 23rd, 1960 to Angus and Lynn Oakley (Young), she is predeceased by her parents and her siblings John, Susan, and Sandra.
She is survived by her Aunt Fanny; her sisters, Karley, Irene, and Virginia (Peggy); as well as her brother, Robert; her sons, David and Steven; her grandson, Adrian; her daughters-in-law, Victoria and Rebecca; her nieces, Rosie, Melissa, Amy, Sierra, and Savanna; and nephews, Christopher, Daniel, Michael, Mark, and Andrew.
Liz grew up a tomboy, learning shooting and horseback riding from her father, and was apparently a terror to all on the schoolyard. Restless in her youth, she used her thumb to hitch rides clear across Canada and back.
She was a lifelong artist and occasional satirist with an off-kilter sense of humour, working in oils and drawings one day and penning funny sendups the next. She loved fantasy and science fiction novels and comics, and lugged her prodigious collection with her with every move. She loved her many pets, too, as well as Pokémon and her large hoard of Pokémon collectibles that spilled from every available container.
Despite lifelong health concerns, her sense of humour never left her and she could always be counted on to make you smile with a terrible pun or clever joke.
She loved her family and her children most of all, and after her wanderlust abated, she settled down to raise her family as a devoted and loving mother. The arrival of her grandson, Adrian, left her overjoyed and she could often speak of nothing but him.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations in her name to Diabetes Canada, your local animal shelters, and your local food bank.
