Obituary of Gerald Ivan Mailman
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our father, Gerald Ivan Mailman, age 95 of Westville. Gerald passed away on April 28th, 2026 in the Pallative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Gerald was born in Liscome to Lester and Mary Mailman. He worked as a pulp cutter and was a member of the local 614 International Labour Union, but spent the greater part of his life as a lobster fisherman out of Sinclair's Island. Many people would remember purchasing fresh lobster from his residence on West Street, Westville. After retiring from fishing, until the age of 90, Gerald continued to work day and night building traps for local fisherman.
Gerald is survived by his children Russell (Charlene), Chris (Gordon Fraser), Melody (David Boudreau), Kendall, Eleanor (James Bond), April & Gerry. Siblings Douglas, Lloyd and Vereena.
Gerald was predeceased by his wife Beverly (Hartling), parents Lester and Mary; siblings Russell, Truman, Delbert, Hector, Kathleen (Rose), Eldie (Naugler), Dorris and half brothers Elliot and Mack Baker.
His workshop was his shed, his passion was fishing, and he will be sadly missed by friends and family.
There will be no funeral by request, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
