Obituary of Tim Hale
September 17, 1959 – May 16, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Timothy Richard (Tim) Hale, announce his passing on May 16, 2026, at home in Westville.
Tim had recently received a serious health diagnosis, but he faced it with strength, determination and a touch of stubborness, treating it as just a bump in the road. He quickly returned to his regular routine, finding his greatest joy simply driving around town.
A machinist by trade, Tim had a natural talent for working with his hands and could often be found under the hood of a vehicle or rebuilding engines—large or small. Over the years, he held a variety of jobs, including working in construction alongside his brothers, where he helped renovate and build homes throughout Pictou County and as far as Clyde River, Nunavut. He also worked at Acropole Pizza, Blue Rhino Propane, and NS Diesel & Turbo Inc., and could often be found in the barn at home rebuilding lawnmowers. This proved he truly was a “Tim of all trades.” Most recently, Tim served as a dedicated caretaker at St. Paul United Church in Westville. To him, this role was far more than just a job—he often went above and beyond his duties “just because.” The kindness and compassion shown to him by Reverend Mary and the congregation over the past few months meant so much to him and to our family and will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his children, Lindsay (Scott) Fanning and Nathan Hale; their mother, Kathy MacNaughton; and his four beloved grandchildren, Brody and Ella Fanning, and Mylie and Connor Hale, who will miss their Grampie dearly. He is also survived by his brothers, Scott of Westville and Bruce (Janet) of MacPherson’s Mills; his sister, Wendy (Kim) Bourque of Westville, whose care and support over the past few months meant so much; his sister-in-law, Marion Hale of Westville; his uncle, James (Mary) Hale of Stellarton, with whom he shared a special bond; as well as several nieces and cousins and their families.
Tim was predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Sylvia (Chabassol) Hale, and his brother Frank, all of Westville.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the healthcare providers who supported Tim over the past few months at Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital, Aberdeen Hospital, the Dickson Centre in Halifax, and Lawton's in Westville, as well as to EHS, first responders, the Westville Police Department, and Eagles Funeral Home, all of whom helped us navigate our tremendously difficult loss.
A funeral service will be held in Tims honor at St. Paul United Church in Westville on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverand Dr. Mary Taylor officiating, followed by a Celebration of Life for family and friends at the church hall.
Donations can be made in Tim's memory to the St. Paul United Church Food for Focus program, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
