Obituary of Margaret Fraser
It was on Friday, May 22nd, 2026, that Margaret Florence (Fitzpatrick) Fraser of Millbrook, Pictou County, gained her angel wings.
She was born in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland on January 13th, 1940 to parents James and Isabelle (Badcock) Fitzpatrick.
Margaret grew up spending time in her father’s general store, and at the local library where her passion for reading began. She was of Catholic faith, taught by nuns and grew up with a strong faith in God.
In her younger years, she worked at a chocolate factory in Newfoundland, various housekeeping/caregiver positions as far as Boston to Halifax. She was also employed at the Clairtone plant, Stellarton, where she worked along side her future husband James Lester Fraser whom she married in 1967.
Mom took pride in her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed visiting local garden centres in hopes of finding a plant she didn’t already own. She was an excellent baker and cook, spoiling her family with delicious meals and sweets. She took joy in preserving and pickling.
She taught us many things about living, from hanging laundry on the clothesline to forgiveness of the heart. Mom was a strong believer in angels and God’s will. She loved listening to Sunday mass, watching Coronation Street and the occasional Mr Bean show.
Mom had a good sense of humour, quick wit with a little bit of an Irish temper. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She will be remembered for her hugs and true concern of her children and grandchildren, always interested and asking how everyone is doing.
She leaves behind her daughters, Marlene (Dale) Bomback, Lacombe, AB, Wanda (Chris) Hefler, East Mountain, Leona (Doug) Arnold, MacLellans Brook, Anita (Vince) Atwater, Gairloch, and son Carl Fraser, Lansdowne.
She will be missed by her grandchildren, Aaron and Dustin Bomback, Kayla and Brianna Hefler, Courtney and Jessica Arnold , Roland and Serenah Atwater and her great grandchildren Isabella, Aubrey, Raylene, and Grace.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, James Fraser, her half siblings John Tom, Susie, and Maggie Fitzpatrick and her eldest granddaughter, Brittany Panisiak.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted with Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Visitation will take place Friday, May 29 from 1 to 3 pm, with funeral service following at 3 pm. This will be followed by a graveside burial at St. Andrew’s cemetery, Gairloch.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the palliative care unit at the Aberdeen Hospital.
