Obituary of Gordon Raymond Sutherland
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Raymond Sutherland on May 25th, 2026. He was the eldest son of Gordon and Bessie (Napier) Sutherland of Pleasant Valley.
Gordon was a devoted husband to Elizabeth “Betty Jean” for 53 years before her sudden passing in 2021. His greatest pride was his granddaughters, Reid and Ashton, who brought him so much joy and laughter. They will miss him deeply as will his only son, Gordie, and daughter-in-law, Kim.
Gordon was a reserved man who worked as a forklift operator at Michelin Tire for 30 years before retiring. His favourite things were sitting outside on a warm, sunny day, people-watching, spending time with his beloved dogs, and some fresh lobster. First there was Ralphy, then Tubbie, and now, his “little buddy” Kermit.
Gordon is survived by his sisters-in-law Margie Sutherland (Robert), Jennie Gostock, Becky Daley, Sheila Daley, brothers-in-law Bob Daley (Katherine), Reg Daley (Cathy), aka “Doll”, many nieces and nephews, and cousin, Doug (Evie).
He was pre-deceased by parents Gordon and Bessie, brother Robert, sisters Bev Mills and Phyllis Hayter, brothers-and-sisters-in law Sheldon Hayter, Gordon and Donna Daley, Ian and Eileen Daley, Jerry and Mary Daley, Brenton Daley, Jim Daley, Douglas Daley, Buzz Gostock, and Jessie and Jack Landry.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Glen Haven Manor for their care and compassion. There will be a private family viewing and graveside burial. Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA.
