Obituary of Peter John Pentz
Peter passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He faced his illness with determination and courage, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is finally at peace.
Born on July 16, 1958, in New Glasgow, Peter grew up in Trenton before proudly serving in the Canadian Militia (Primary Reserve). He met the love of his life, Darlene, in 1977, and together they put down roots in Union Centre, where Peter was a devoted family man.
Peter worked as a welder/pipefitter for many years at Trenton Works. He enjoyed staying busy outdoors, gardening, feeding the birds, and caring for his beloved pets. His warm nature, wry sense of humor, and ability to connect with people left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Peter’s grandchildren were among his greatest joys. He had a special way of making each of them feel seen, valued, and loved. Through games, projects, and adventures, he filled their lives with fun and laughter, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Peter was predeceased by his mother, Mabel Johnstone, father, Robert Pentz, stepfather, Terry Johnstone, brother, Raymond, and sisters, Karen and Patsy.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene, son Ryan (Jeannine), daughters, Kyra (Ian) and Kamayne (Shane), grandchildren, Jacob, Rogan, Ian, Marley, and Abby, brothers Bobby (Elaine), Gary (Linda), Mark, David “Illy” (Donna), Paul (Deanne), sisters, Angie (Darren), Terri-Lynn (Pat) and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family would like to thank the following for their support during Peter’s final days: Rachel MacDonald, Dr. Horton, Dr. Straub, Dr Craig, Dr. Smith, the Palliative Care Unit and the Continuing Care team.
In keeping with Peter’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations may be made to the SPCA in Peter’s memory.
