It is with a heavy heart that I come to find out that this wonderful Teacher has left us. I moved here from the HRM to Pictou County in February of 1982 and all of the students were preparing for Exams at the time. I had to copy and study all of my subjects and Math and History were the most challenging subjects for me prior to that task.
I will never forget his devotion to teaching...nor the time he took out of his busy day in kind to tutor me and after my previous struggles it was much improved, I almost made 100%.... My heart goes out to his family...His memory lives on...in all who knew and loved him...

We had some good times connecting with you in Florida. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.

To Terry and Amanda.
Please accept our kindest condolences on the Loss of your husband
and father. Jimmy has been sadly missed at coffee and breakfasts
the last few years, missed for his great smile, great sense of humor
and for his valued friendship.
Jim was a good and reliable friend, who would help you with any
chore that needed doing. He had the ability to build and repair any
woodworking job.
Jimmy was always fun and pleasant to be around and welcome in
the Boardroom.
He could tell a fine story and with his sense of humor he provided
many laughs . He was always able to brighten our day just by
being Jimmy.
Rest in peace Jim and God speed.

That Jimmy. He could talk. We enjoyed time at the gym when we crossed paths.

To Jim’s wife and family. I knew Jim when we were students at Trenton high school. I ended up being the secretary at that school for more than twenty years. Jim was a great guy on staff, very good natured, always thoughtful and always a gentleman. He loved a joke or a good story and I especially remember his hearty laugh. Jim was a great coach when I attended THS. He coached me in rugby and track and field. He also did basketball and volleyball as well. Later on I had the privilege to play ball with Jim on the Forsythe's team and work with him at THS. One of the greatest pitchers in N.S. fast pitch history. A good friend who taught me some wood working skills, that he mastered, in his home shop. He, and his big laugh, will be missed by many. Deepest sympathies Terry, Amanda and family. Very sorry to hear the sad news. RIP "Righthander".

I was in one of Jimmy's first physical education classes when he began his teaching career in Trenton. I was a grade six student at the new Duke Street School when he held the classes at the First United Church Hall on High Street. Along with his teaching career, the family can be justifiably proud of his prowess on the pitching slab. I can remember Alex J. Walling reporting on the radio back to Halifax when Dartmouth Dairy Queen went up against the famed Bate's Construction team of B.C. in the opening game of the championship. Jimmy was the starting pitcher for D.Q. I was one of A. J's free lance reporters back then. Jackie MacKinnon was also on the starting rotation for Dartmouth. Jimmy was one of the original "power" pitchers. He was smart and well spoken. Sincere sympathy to his family. God Bless, Kevin Reid.
