Obituary of James Lester MacDougall

James (Jim) MacDougall

Jim passed away after a lengthy illness on July 19, 2026.

The family would like to thank the VON for their excellent care during his last 10 months. A special thank you also goes to his friends and family who made regular visits.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Viola MacDougall; his infant brother, Charles; and his brother, Alan (Norma).

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Terry Lee; his daughter, Amanda; his sister, Karen (Jude); his nephews, Paul and David; and his sisters-in-law, Marg (Reg) and Norma (Alan).

From a very early age, Jim was involved in sports and played on many Trenton softball leagues. He was especially proud of pitching in the Canadian National Softball Championship in Victoria, British Columbia, in 1974.

Jim graduated from the Nova Scotia Teachers College and St. Francis Xavier University and taught for his entire career in the Trenton school system. Over the years, he coached many rugby and basketball teams.

Upon retirement, Jim, Terry, and their two Wheaten Terriers travelled to the St. Pete Beach area of Florida for many years.

During the summers, Jim worked at his second love, carpentry, and examples of his craftsmanship can be found all over Nova Scotia and Ontario. His love of building can be traced to his father Carl's ancestors, who arrived from Scotland in the late 1700s as ship carpenters.

There will be no service, by request. A family interment will be held at a later date.

Jim would appreciate any donations being made to the SPCA.

Arrangements are under the care of Eagles Funeral Home, and tributes can be sent to Eagles Funeral Home.
