Obituary of Margaret Isabel Rushton
It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of our wonderful Mom, Margaret Isabel (Wright) Rushton, 90, of Westville, formerly of Tanner Hill Road, on Tuesday July 21st, 2026, in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born August 6, 1935, to Stephen and Isabel (Fraser) Wright.
She was a member and Elder of Salem Presbyterian Church, Salem, a member of the Westville Legion Branch 35, a life and past president of Ladies Auxiliary Brach 35, a member of Westville Heritage and Heritage Bowlers, and a member of Joyful Noise and Friends Choir.
She is survived by daughters Diane Rushton, Tanner Hill Road and Darlene MacKinnon, Sylvester (former husband Allan); sons Gerald, Tanner Hill Road and Gary, Pictou Landing. Also a very special adopted daughters, Jori Hart (Ron) Lovat and Sheila MacLaren, Tanner Hill Road. She is also survived by grandchildren Glenda Decoff Lawrence (John) their children Melissa, Robert, Erika, Emma, Dalton and Hope; Sharmaine (MacKinnon) Langille (Patrick) and children Ronni and Nolan; Bradley MacKinnon, Cavelle MacKinnon (Ross), Jaime Parker (Wally) their children Kaleb and Avah, Jason Rushton and his son Jaykus, Andrea Fanjoy, Krista Knoblauch Doyle (Rick) their son Colter, Carlin Heighton (John) their children Samuel and Benjamin, Jason Hart (Molly) their children Chase, Ashton, Gracie and Ellis, and Kevin Hart (Cassidy). She is also survived by 7 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents Stephen and Isabel Wright, infant brother John, Raymond and Ronnie. Daughters Sheri-Lynn Knoblauch, Marilyn Fanjoy and grandson Owen MacKinnon, sons-in-law Victor Knoblauch and Phillip Murray.
Some of her favorite past times were watching her favorite teams, Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs; playing cards, Kinsmen TV Bingo, and entertainment at the DeCoste Center. She was fortunate to travel to many places over the years like Ireland, Scotland, England and Las Vegas.
Our Mom was a hardworking woman all her life. She was always there for everyone when in need. She had a strong love for her family, making and leaving us with many wonderful memories of attending family gatherings. Her family was her pride and joy.
We would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Aberdeen Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to our Mom while in their care. Also to the VON staff coming into the home. Mom would not have been able to stay there as long without their assistance. She always had a hug for them all and always so appreciative of their help.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Salem Presbyterian Church, Pictou County VON or the Aberdeen Palliative Care.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24th from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 10:00am at the Salem Presbyterian Church with Rev. Barb Fotheringham officiating.
