Obituary of Betty Bezanson

Betty Margaret Bezanson, South Main Street, Westville, passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on Saturday, October 3, 2009 surrounded by her children. Born in Romsey, England im 1921, to the late George and Ethel (Trodd) Finch, she moved to Nova Scotia in 1946 as a war bride with a young son. She was a long-time resident of Westville where she and her husband (Arthur), ran a family business for many years. She was a member/adherent of St. Paul United Church, a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #35, and a member of the Nova Scotia War Brides Association. She is survived by two sons, Barry and wife Rosalind of Victoria B.C., Brian and his wife Linda of Dartmouth, NS and her daughter Janie and her husband Robert Fraser of St. Catharines, Ont.; seven grandchildren , Ryan Bezanson, Vancouver; Sarah Harper, Salmon Arm, BC; Jennifer Byer, Ft. Myers, FL.; John Bezanson, Charlotte, NC; Michael Cedric Bezanson, Montreal; Christopher Fraser, St. Catherines, and Erin Klaussen, Toronto; and four great granddaughters; a sister Elsie Finch, Haslemere, England; and sister-in-law Wanda Bezanson, Kingston, NS; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1989 and her sister June. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #35 will conduct a service 6:30 Monday at the Funeral Home. Her memorial service will be held 2 o’clock Tuesday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Reception will follow at St. Paul United Church Hall. Interment will take place at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only.
