Obituary of Jim Conley

James Earland Conley, age 80, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital with his wife and family by his side.  He was a son of the late Earland and Isabell Conley.  

Dad met Mom at a dance at the Orange Hall, Westville and they have been dancing ever since.  He was a devoted husband and father to three children.  Jim loved to be involved in the community and help out when he could.  He was a member and Elder of St. Paul United Church where he also was a Sunday School teacher and a Scout leader.  Jim was a former member of the Alma Fire Department and also served as an auxiliary member of the R.C.M.P.  He had worked at various jobs throughout his life, including the envelope factory in Stellarton, survey crew for the Middle River Dam and the Pictou Causeway, and was a truck driver for Tidewater Construction, Irving Oil and Ballantyne Fuels for several years.  

He will be sadly missed by his wife Wilma (Mattatall); three children, Darryl (Michelle), Tyler (Kim), and Krista McInnis; seven grandchildren, Hailey and Mitchell Conley, Cameron and Jaymee Conley, Isabella and Mason McInnis, and Bridgette Jackson; sister Donna Sample (Benvie).  He is also survived by sisters and brothers in law Kevin  Mattatall (Alice) , Herb Mattatall (Kathy), Ian Mattatall (Alice), Art Mattatall (Lynne); several nieces, nephews and many close friends.  

He was predeceased by his parents; sisters Debbie MacNeil and Costella McLeod; sister in law Sandra Pucknell; brothers in law Mike MacNeil and Aubrey Mattatall and  several aunts and uncles.
