Obituary of Karen Ruth MacLean

Karen Ruth MacLean

July 24, 1942 – March 15, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Karen, a beloved wife, mother and Nana and cherished member of our community. She departed the world on March 15, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness and unforgettable memories.

Karen was known for her kindness, thoughtfulness and caring ways. She touched the lives of many as a passionate teacher in Westville for many years. The joy she got from teaching was often part of the stories she told, of the students and her fellow teachers.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Karen’s absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Karen is survived by her children, Greg (Una), Halifax, Michelle Vance, Saint John, Kathy (Eastern Passage); grandchildren, Rachael (Matt), Luke and Ethan; sisters Pat and Dorothy Lane, along with numerous in-laws, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Lloyd, as well as her parents Lloyd and Claudia MacCallum, brother Clyde, Aunt Dorothy and sister Cookie.
As a mother and Nana, she was so proud of all her children and grandchildren.

Karen and Lloyd shared a love that cannot be surpassed. She said he made her come alive. They are finally together again for eternity.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at 11 a.m. at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Westville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Canada or St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Westville.

“This life for me has truly passed.
I loved you to the very last.
Weep not for me, but courage take.
And love one another for my sake”
Love Karen
