Obituary of Wilda Mae Rorison

Wilda Mae Rorison, 77 of Saltsprings formerly of New Glasgow passed away on April 6, 2024 in the Aberdeen Hospital.

 

Wilda was the daughter of the late Willard and Florence "Flossie" (Gammon) Watters.

 

Mom lived in Saltsprings in her younger years, and New Glasgow for most of her adult life, retiring to Saltsprings in later years. Mom worked in various jobs, but until retirement, was employed for many years at Zellers. Mom enjoyed going to dances, which led to her love of Clogging. Mom was also known as the woman with the Golden Hand, whether it be knitting or crocheting beautiful afghans, baby blankets etc., or making various crafts. She also recently enjoyed painting pictures, with various techniques.  she won several medals and ribbons in different competitions. Wilda enjoyed following Erick throughout the Maritimes for Horse Shoe Tournaments.

 

Mom enjoyed to travel, especially her big trip to Nashville. In later years Erick and mom travelled to the states and various locations. They also enjoyed bowling in a league and for some family fun nights.

 

She is survived by her husband Erick Otterson; children Robin (Robert) Fraser, Tanya Gerrior, Todd (Melanie Cook), Jason (Heather), and chosen son Bruce "Boo" (Margaret) Davidson; brother Rae (Sandra) Watters; sister Deana Parker; sister and brother-in-law Wilfred (Marg) Rorison; sisters-in-law Joan Watters, Evelyn Montena, Shirley MacCallum, Diane (Harry) MacGillivray; grandchildren Alex Rorison, Vicki Gerrior, Justin (Shelbie)Gerrior, Evan (Carrie) Fraser, Erin Fraser (Dawson Bowes) Ashton Rorison, and Olivia Rorison; great-grandchildren Xander McDonald, Taylor Sutherland, Jamie Sutherland, Austin Sutherland Maci Gerrior, Hollis Gerrior, Noah Sutherland, Olive Bowes, and Rory Gerrior; several nieces, nephews and special friend aunt Marnie.

 

Wilda was predeceased by her first husband Victor Rorison, son-in-law William "Willie" Gerrior, siblings Catherine(Clarence) Rae, Scott Watters, Sandra (Vince) Fortune, Clarence Watters, and Thomas Watters; siblings-in-law Walter Rorison, Robert (Shirley) Rorison, Peter Rorison, Felix Rorison, Jean (Harry) Rorison, Lena (Doug) Conway, Mary Catherine Rorison, Catherine Mary Rorison,Odin Otterson, Lorne Otterson, and Frank Otterson; great-grandchildren Ava Grace Fraser and Parker Evelyn Fraser.

 

Visitation will be from 7-9pm on Monday, April, 8, 2024 and 2-4 and 7-9pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 in Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April, 10 in Eagles Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.

Special thanks are extended to ICU and Palliative Care Units of the Aberdeen Hospital for the excellent care she received.
