Obituary of Essie Fillier

Gertrude Margaret “Essie” Fillier, of Springville formerly of Westville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital with her family by her side. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John “Jack” and Helen (Pitts) Pitts. Essie will be dearly missed by her husband David; sons John (Louann), Hopewell; Paul (Heather), Durham; daughters Helen Salter (Scott), Pleasant Valley; Karen Fillier (Waylon) Digby; grandchildren Bobby (Laura), Erika (Conor), Erin (Ross), Matt, Jami (Colton), Dylan, Mitchell, Micaella, Tyler, Logan; and great-grandchildren Amelia, Emily, Alex, and another expected in March. She is also survived by sisters and brothers John Pitts (Jean), Paul Pitts (Sharon), Paulette Cormier (Jim), Patsy Grealey (Glen), Vernon Pitts (Shirley), Ian Pitts (Linda), Audrey (David), and brother-in -law Gary Rumley. Essie was predeceased by her son Ross and sister Bernadette Rumley. She worked at Riverview Home Care Corp. as a unit manager. She enjoyed scrapbooking, making crafts, reading and long chats on the phone with her family. Essie will be remembered most for her honest, witty, fun-loving personality and unconditional love. For those closest to her heart, she will be deeply missed. Essie's family received visitors on February 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. A private family service was held on February 25th, 2016 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, the Red Cross Society or a charity of ones choice.
