Obituary of Joan Tye

Joan Helen "June" Tye, of New Glasgow, formerly of Trenton, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born October 26, 1924, in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of William and Annie (Gerrior)Burrows. Joan was the last member of the Burrows family and is survived by daughter Mary (Everett McCullough), Brookland ; son Clifford (Shelley), Trenton; daughter in law Shirley Tye, Stellarton; grandchildren, Kenny Tye, Trenton; Kenda Walsh (Les), New Glasgow; David Alexander, Nelsonhouse, Manitoba; Daniel Alexander (Cheryl), Thunder Bay, Ont.; Jocelyn Tye (Kevin Caldwell), Halifax; and Stefanie Tye (Brett Wheaton), Halifax; great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Matthew Tye, Andrew and Kelsey Stevens, and Charlotte Tye-Caldwell. She was predeceased by husband George W.; son George D. "Teddy"; and grand-daughter Meagan Susanne Alexander; brothers, Harold and Miller Burrows; sisters, Isabel Purvis and Kaye Gayton; and close friend Richard Serrick. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Rev. Barb Fotheringham officiating. A reception will follow at 346 Brother Street, New Glasgow. Interment will take place at Abercrombie Cemetery at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
