Obituary of Mary (Curtis) Preston

The death of Mary Agnes (Curtis) Preston, 81 of Westville occurred peacefully on Tuesday evening, November 5, 2019 in the Halifax Infirmary with her loving family by her side.

Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Edith Morton.

Mary was one tough cookie, she raised five kids on her own taking on odds jobs like sewing, housework and care giver, in order to provide for her family. Her faith was very important to her and was a devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. A kind and loving person, Mary had a special personality, always ready to greet you with a smile, hug and conversation. Mary love to bake, quilt, sew, knit and garden. She was a mother, grandmother and friend to everyone.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Robert "Herbie" Curtis (Margie), Stellarton; Elizabeth Lays (Peter), Westville; Susan Wentzell (Brian), Trenton; 16 grand children and 26 great grand children; son-in-law Gary MacDonald, Telford and daughter-in-law Vivian Chapman, Trenton.

Mary was predeceased by her daughter Catherine "Kathy" MacDonald and son John Curtis, brother Robert L. Morton and sister Edith E. Morton.

Her family received visitors on Saturday, November 9 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service was held 2 o’clock Sunday at the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, Truro Road, Westville. Interment will take place at a later time.
