Obituary of Cyril John Mason

Cyril “Bud” John Mason, 79, formerly of Halifax, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Halifax on March 30, 1940, he was a son of the late Cyril and Evelyn (Walsh) Mason. Bud grew up in Halifax, having a passion for basketball, playing as a young boy for Q.E. High School and was proud to play for St. Mary’s University. After university, he served with the Halifax Police Dept. for several years before leaving the Dept. to work as a contractor owning his own business. Bud enjoyed sport fishing, loved singing and telling jokes. After his illness, he lived for a short time in New Glasgow. He will be sadly missed by his children Roger Mason (Kim), Oakville, Ont.; Lisa Betts (Paul), England; James MacMillan(Jennifer), New Glasgow; Natasha Darroch (John), MacLellan’s Brook; Daniel Mason, Halifax; Kara Mason, Halifax; many grand children; former wife Judy Mason, New Glasgow; sisters Debbie Nagle (Bud), Lower Sackville; Karen Mason (Rick), Shelburne; brother David Mason(Freda), Halifax. Bud was predeceased by daughter Angela Burke and brother Michael Mason. There will be no visitations or funeral service.
