Obituary of Deborah Blennerhassett

Deborah Anne Blennerhassett (nee Currie), aged 61 of New Glasgow and formerly of Westville, passed suddenly in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, January 13, 2020. Born in Pembroke, Ontario, July 2, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Jean (Fleury) and John Currie of Westville, Nova Scotia. If you met Debbie, you knew immediately she was a kind, caring, and authentic soul who was always focused on the needs of others. Debbie was an Executive Administrative Assistant throughout her career working in Yellowknife, NWT, Iqaluit, Nunavut and most recently, New Glasgow with the Nova Scotia Health Authority. Debbie loved her immediate and extended family dearly. To many, she was an inspiring teacher and mentor in all matters of human kindness and compassion. She, from a very early age, understood the value of connecting and supporting people. Debbie has and will continue to have a profound and lasting influence on so many. She was loving and hilarious and she gave the best hugs. Debbie is survived by her husband, Rick Blennerhassett, daughter Caitlin Blennerhassett, son Mike Blennerhassett (Stephanie) treasured grandchildren Chloe, Vivian, and Max, brothers John Currie (Sheila), Steve Currie (Karen), chosen sisters Colleen, Nancy, Marilyn, Margo and many, many, others as well as nieces Shayna and Maxine, nephews Steven, Ian, Seth, Brayden, Keegan, Konner, Noah and Patrick. We will carry her with us always. Her family received visitors at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visitation on Thursday, January 16 from 3-6 p.m. followed by her funeral service on Friday, January 17 at 11 a.m. at the Church of The Holy Name, Westville, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating.
