Obituary of Fred Barkhouse

Frederick Arthur (Fred) Barkhouse Jr. of Otter Road, Waterside, Pictou County, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 7, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born on December 4, 1979, he was the son of Fred and Imelda (O’Neill) Barkhouse of Granton. Fred was interested in old cars and trucks and especially “Guy Time” with his son, Hunter. He loved his family and any mention of a family gathering, Fred was there. Besides his parents, he will be deeply and forever missed by the love of his life, wife, Marcy (Woodley), his son and sidekick, Hunter; sister, Samantha MacDonald (Ben), children, Sam and Lilly, brother in-law, P.J. Woodley (Katherine), children, Dax and Thea; Marcy’s parents, Peter Woodley and Ramona DeYoung (Tim); grandmothers, Barb Barkhouse and Helen “Nan” Woodley; many aunts, uncles and cousins; his “work family” and co-workers at Connors Transfer Ltd. and many friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Elmer and Sadie O’Neill and grandfather, Ken Barkhouse Sr. Fred is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, with visiting on Saturday, March 14 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. His funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 15 at 4 o’clock from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Alma Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Alma Fire Hall. Family flowers only. Donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the I.W.K. Hospital.
