Obituary of Jack Chisholm
John Archibald “Jack” Chisholm, age 75, formerly of Alma passed away on Saturday May 2, 2020 in Valley View Villa.
Born in Pictou, he was the eldest son of the late Bill and Theresa (Shelleby) Chisholm of Elgin.
Jack had been employed at New Glasgow Express, Michelin Tire and then went on to work at Superior Propane and ETI for 26 years hauling propane across Nova Scotia. After retirement, Jack worked for S.W. Weeks hauling gravel. Jack enjoyed being behind the wheel of his “big rigs” and always found someone to talk to along his routes. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, and four-wheeling, and in his younger years drove stock car #41 at the Fraser’s Mountain Race Track. He enjoyed music and dancing. He had been a volunteer firefighter with Linacy Fire Department for six years. After moving next door to the Alma Fire Department, he served there as a dedicated fire truck driver for 20 years.
Jack will be dearly missed by his wife of 54 years, Grace (MacMillan), children; John (Karen), Sutherland’s River, and Krista (Paul Fraser), Westville, grandchildren; Tyler and Brittany Chisholm and Brier Fraser. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Ellen MacMillan, brothers; Donnie (Liz Archibald) and Keith of Elgin, sisters-in-law, Susan Tanner, Laurene Chisholm and Lynn Chisholm, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by brother, Fraser.
Jack is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Jack’s family will honor his life privately at this time and a Celebration of his life will be announced at a later date
