Obituary of Linda Cameron

Cameron, Linda Jane, age 55, of Saltsprings NS passed away peacefully May 26, 2020 in the Palliative Care unit of the Aberdeen Hospital after a strong and courageous battle with glioblastoma. Linda was born to Freeman and Alma (Patriquin) Hiltz on April 15, 1965 and married the love of her life Keith Cameron on November 17, 1989. Linda and Keith became parents to Tiffany Dawn the following year and Linda and Tiffany have been inseparable ever since – mother/daughter and best friends. Linda loved children and treated many like her own; having an extremely special bond with her grandchildren Avery, Aubree and Wesley. In addition to being survived by husband Keith Cameron, daughter Tiffany (Kenny) Sutherland and grandchildren Wesley, Avery and Aubree Linda is also survived by step-sons John Cameron (Tammy), Halifax, Paul Cameron (Nina), Pictou, and Jason Cameron, Scotch Hill. Her step sons blessed her with 7 grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Courtney, Carver, Caiden, Kyra and Dustin along with 3 great grandchildren Neveah, Daxton and Navyn. Linda will be sadly missed by her sisters Doris (Ernest) Heighton, River John, Florence Dunphy, Tatamagouche, Lois Gratto (Wayne Ritchie), Halifax and brother Keith (Eleanor) Hiltz, Poplar Hill, many nieces and nephews as Linda was a very involved and loving aunt. Linda was predeceased by father Freeman Hiltz, brother Allan Hiltz, brother in laws Kenny Gratto and Clayton Dunphy; and special niece and friend Debbie Campbell. Linda worked for the Department of Transportation for 38 years and considered her co workers her family. In addition, Linda was the treasurer of her work union, a member of the Central West River ladies auxiliary and helped with many local church suppers. Linda’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with family and friends which she considered the most important thing in life. She loved shopping and lunch dates with friends and pot lucks with family. She rarely missed a Christmas concert or graduation over the years for any of the children in her life. She especially loved her time spent with Avery, Aubree and Wesley. Linda was a very hands on Nanny who gave the best hugs, never said no to a trip to the movies or a sleepover, made yummy homemade pizza, sang the best songs, and danced in the living room on Saturday nights listening to the hoedown. Linda battled her cancer with such determination and strength. From the day she got her diagnosis she was clear that she would do whatever she needed to do to get better for Avery, Aubree and Wesley. She was up and walking the day after her surgery to remove her brain tumor and did 30 trips to Halifax for radiation without complaining once. She never wanted any sympathy as she always felt there was someone else struggling more than her. Linda took nothing for granted and soaked up every bit of life. She would want us to honour her memory by doing the same. Go to lunch with a friend, be silly and laugh until you cry, celebrate every special occasion, work hard, always contribute to a good cause, and if you have children in your life hug them tight and spoil them rotten with your time and attention. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service due to COVID-19 restrictions. Donations, if desired, may be made in trust to Avery and Aubree’s education funds.
