Obituary of Gordon MacDonald

Gordon Daley MacDonald, age 93, of Westville, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2020 in the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou. Born in Westville, October 3, 1926, he was a son of the late Charles B. and Mary (Daley) MacDonald. Gordon was employed at Thompson and Sutherland Hardware for 28 years and Eddy Hardware, Bathurst, NB for over 25 years, receiving the Gold Hammer Award in recognition of 50 years service in the industry from Stanley Tool Company. Upon retirement he returned home to Westville. Gordon was a member of St. Paul United Church where he served as Elder and Sunday School Treasurer and was a member of the Male Choir. Gordon is survived by his wife of 74 years Alice (Rankin); sons, Gordon (Norma), Larry (L.J.); daughter Sandra Partington (Robert); grandchildren, Janet, Tom, David, Michael and Donald; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister Betty Campbell, Hamilton; sisters-in-law Jean Fraser, Little Harbour and Shirley Sample, Ont.; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother and sister-in-law Allison and Alice MacDonald. Many thanks to the V.O.N. and the staff of the Maritime Oddfellows Home for their care and compassion. There will be no visitations. His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 14th from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with the Rev. Mary Taylor officiating.
