Obituary of John Watters

John George Watters, age 55, of Pictou, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, June 9, 1965, he was the son of the late John George Watters and Margaret Ann (Smith) Watters. John held several occupations during his lifetime including weapons technician with the Victoria Regiment Infantry, shipper and receiver with CP Smith Furniture, Security Guard with Travel Lodge, Burns Security and Canadian Standards Association, as well as gas station attendant for several establishments in Pictou County. John had also been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #16 for the past 13 years. More recently, John enjoyed fishing with his sons and working as a volunteer HAM Radio operator. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. John was a family man and although he suffered greatly from a lot physical illnesses on a daily basis, he never stopped enjoying and loving his children and grandchildren who will miss their papa greatly. John is survived by his wife of 31 years Janice (Wright); sons, John (Kayla), Chris (Alissa); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Olivia, Jackson, and Tucker; brother Everett (Mary); sister Sally Strutynski (John); nephews, Ricky and Steven Watters; and other friends and extended family members including mother in-law Diane Wright; sister-in-law Debbie Wright. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by daughter Nassim-Elizabeth; brother Howard; niece Evelyn-Grace and father-in-law and mother-in-law Stewart and Shirley Wright. Many thanks to the ICU staff at the Aberdeen Hospital for their care and compassion and a special thanks to Dr. Randy Burrill for his good care. Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Due to Covid restrictions, Masks are mandatory. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #16. No committal at this time
