Obituary of Havelock Dort

Havelock Enos Dort, 86, Sylvester passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010 in the Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou. Born in Halfway Cove, Guysborough County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Nellie (George) Dort. He was an overseas veteran of W.W.II serving with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. After the war, he settled in Montreal where he married and raised his family. He was a high pressure welder working in construction and refineries. Havelock greatly enjoyed spending time with his family at their cottage in Que. After his retirement, he returned in Nova Scotia to reside in Pictou County. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 51 years, Marion (Bilney); sons, Ronald, Arnold and Keith; and step grand daughter Jessica. He is also survived by sister Johannah Lawless and brothers Russell (Shirley) ` and Thomas (Gloria) as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Vernon. Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Wednesday from St. Bees’ Anglican Church, Westville with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. Cremation will follow. Donations in his memory may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation of Canada or the Northumberland Veteran’s Unit
