Obituary of Joe Baker

The family of Joseph Michael Baker Sr. are sad to announce his passing on January 27, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was the beloved husband of Margaret (Daley) Baker; the loving father of his daughter Barbara Rogers (Derrick), and his son Joseph Michael Baker Jr. (Sandra). He was also the greatest Papa to his grandchildren Tara Campbell (Elliot), Jarret Rogers and Kyle Kenny. He was big brother to his sisters Darlene MacDonald (late Walter MacDonald) and Rachel Baker and his brothers Jimmy Baker (Kathleen) and Alfie Baker (Cathy). Joe will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents James and Henrietta (Dykens)Baker.

Joe was a true gentleman and was loved by everyone he met. He had a great presence and he lit up any room he walked into. Joe’s first and greatest passion was his family who he loved beyond words. He was a professional truck driver for most of his life and he loved it. Joe was a true race fan and in his early years won many races at several Maritime Speedways. Over the years his passion for racing turned to Nascar. He never missed a race or the opportunity to talk about racing. He had the great pleasure of attending a few Nascar races and he made his presence known. Joe had many hobbies and he enjoyed tinkering with and fixing just about anything. Joe also loved music and loved to show his amazing voice. He enjoyed entertaining his family and friends. Joe will also be remembered for his amazing smile, his great sense of humour and the pure joy he gave to everyone who ever had the pleasure to meet him.

The family would like to extend their tremendous appreciation to all of our family, friends, co-workers and his racing family for your calls, messages, visits, cards, food and all of the loving tributes made in his honour. Your love and support was a great comfort.

Due to Covid restrictions there will be no visitations. His funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 o’clock.  Reservations were required.  Seating capacity has now been reached. and will be streamed to the public at   http://www.facebook.com/stpauluc
