Wanda Zugay

Obituary of Wanda Zugay

Wanda Nadine Zugay, 46 of Priestville passed away suddenly on May 6, 2021 in the Aberdeen Hospital after a brief illness.

Wanda was a vivacious and extraordinary woman with a kind heart, a fierce mind and a brave spirit. There are people brought to this planet to illuminate the dark corners of the world, and she was one of them. Not only did she  light up the room with her beautiful smile and infectious laugh, she left fingerprints of compassion and tranquility on the hearts of all the lives she touched. Wanda demanded authenticity of herself and those close to her, which gave her the ability to love every bit of you whether you were broken or whole. She faced every day with fearlessness of a warrior and she turned the battles of her life into a beautiful mosaic of light, love and courage.  Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved and cared for her.

Wanda loved her daughters with everything she had and fell into the role of “Jeema” to her grand daughter Aurora Jade, who became the light of her life. They enjoyed many sleep overs and trips to the beach. The beach was Wanda’s happy place and also where she felt closest to her mother  and father in heaven, who would have greeted her with the loving embrace Wanda was longing for. She also loved reading , gardening, golfing, blasting her music too loud and spending time with those she loved. Wanda had a special love for her little fur baby “Balto” who she called her “forever and always”.

Wanda was born to Victor and Mary (Rumley) Zugay on June 21, 1974 and was raised with her siblings in Stellarton.  She graduated Stellarton High School in 1993. She went on to raise her family with her former husband Patrick Milligan, giving birth to her daughters in 1994 and 1996. After being a “stay at home mom” for her children’s early years, she then went to work at Central Supplies for ten years.  Following there, she worked with  Riverview Home, loving her job and caring for the residents like her family. The friendships she made at both places were relationships she treasured and was beyond grateful for.

Wanda will be dearly missed by her daughters Kylee Milligan and Marissa Milligan, grand daughter, Aurora Milligan; her siblings Rozan (Dale) Roddick, Sandra (Dave) Laing, Sharon (Paul) Melanson, and Jamie Zugay.  She is also survived by her chosen family, Shawn Barron, Charlene (Bruce) Fraser, Jennifer (Mark) MacLean, and many other friends and extended family.

There will be no visitations or funeral service.  A celebration of life will take place at a later time.
