Obituary of Gary Dooley
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Franklin Dooley, age 71, of Westville on Sunday, August 29, 2021 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his family by his side.
Born in Westville, July 6, 1950, he was the son of John James “Jim” and Isabelle (Cadwell) Dooley.
Gary worked at Scott Paper for many years. He hand crafted canes made from roots of trees that were donated all over the world. Gary was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan and had a great interest in eagles.
He will be sadly missed by daughter Marcelle (Chris), Westville; son Garry Jr. (Kristy), New Glasgow and his companion Doris Daley, Westville; brothers John A. “Dool” (Anna); James M. “Jim” (Sharon); Kendall (Kenny), and Tom (Sheila); sisters, Sandra Greke (Norm) and Lorna Wood; grandchildren, Mikaela “Papa’s Little Butterfly”, Kayla and Patrick.
A special thanks to all the nurses on the 4th floor over the many years, and especially Dr. Kwasnik, Debbie Williams and all the amazing nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital. Also thank you to the V.O.N. for their many years of help with nursing visits to allow him to be able to be comfortable at home. A huge thank you to the amazing Lawton’s Pharmacy staff in Westville for their continued support.
Due to Covid restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date when restrictions allow and no funeral service will be held. Cremation has taken place to honor Gary’s wishes.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
