Obituary of Doris May Logan
Doris May Logan, 92, Westville, passed away peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital, with all her family by her side, as she would have wanted, on Wednesday, July 28, 2010.
Doris was born in New Glasgow on May 25, 1918. She was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Fraser, Greenhill.
She worked for 25 years at Eagles Flowers and Gifts. Many people will remember her talent for creating their beautiful wedding flowers. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville; Life member of the Women’s Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church in Canada; Life member of the Barbara MacKenzie Auxiliary and Guild; member of the Crystal Fountain Rebekah Lodge #11 and Past Noble Grands club; former member of the Cubs and Scouts Auxiliary and the Dunvegan Mother’s Club. She was a member of the Common Cause Card Club for 48 years and when it ended she missed that social gathering.
Surviving are those who called her Mom, Earl Logan (Doris), Greenhill; Joyce MacDonald (Pat), Greenhill; and John Logan (Rhoda), Pleasant Valley. Those who called her Gram, Colleen, David, Robert, Michelle, Troy, Wesley and Nigel; and those who called her Great-Gram, Jordan, Jake, Henry, George, Max and Emma. She is also survived by her wonderful sisters, Isabel Wright, Elizabeth MacLaughlin, Laurren Stoffmehl, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband James Logan; her son Weldon; her sister Ruth; and her two brothers, Earl and Cecil.
Mom was a lady who spent a lifetime helping and giving to others. No doubt many people will remember the "fudge lady".
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, and entire life to forget them. We were truly blessed to have Mom with us for as long as we did. Her memory and beliefs will live in our hearts forever.
Visitations will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Sunday from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
