Obituary of Wilena Stevens
Wilena Blanche (Fillier) Stevens passed away peacefully with family on Friday, August 13th, 2010 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born September 25th, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred (O’Brien) Fillier of Westville. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Noreen MacFadyen of Truro and son-in-law, Jason Forward of Trenton.
Wilena lived the majority of her life in Westville and resided on Hamilton Road. She worked at the former Thompson and Sutherland Limited in New Glasgow and the Five to a Dollar in Westville. Wilena enjoyed collecting china and was an excellent gardener, cook and crokinole player. She was devoted to her family and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her husband: William Stevens; children: Shannon (Jim) Scott, Mount Uniacke; April (Jason) Forward, Trenton; Tony (Donna) Stevens, Westville; and Stephanie (Scott) Rogerson, Abercrombie; sister: Barbara (Walter) Diamond of Antigonish; grandchildren: Amber Lea Scott, Andrew Stevens, Kelsey Stevens, Damon Penney, Alex Forward, Zachery Rogerson, Jayden Stevens and Nicholas Rogerson; great-grand child: Elizabeth Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, August 16th, 2010 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville. Funeral service will be held at the Holy Name Church in Westville on Tuesday, August 17th, 2010 at 11:00am with Father Bill Rankin officiating. Burial will be in Abercrombie Cermetery.
