Obituary of Nellie Wood

Nellie May Wood, age 87 years,   Parkland Retirement, Truro, NS, formerly of Toronto, Ontario,  passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2022 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

 Born in Mt. Thom, she was a daughter of the late Elizabeth Roberta Wood. 

As a young girl, she grew up in Mt. Thom, later moving to Montreal, Quebec, and then Toronto, Ontario where she lived and worked for many years before returning to Nova Scotia last year.            

She will be dearly missed by sisters Violet Ann Wood, Stellarton, Brenda Joyce Rhyno (Robert), Saint John, N.B.; step-daughters Cindy and Sheree of Ontario and many nieces and nephews and other family members and friends too numerous to mention. 

 She was predeceased by her grand-parents Hugh and Tena MacCulloch, her mother, Elizabeth Roberta Wood, her brother Malcolm Wood, her loving companion and partner of over 30 years, John McAulay.

 There will be no visitation or funeral by request.  A private family committal will be held in Mt. Thom followed by a private celebration of life on Saturday, May 14, 2022.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation, or The Canadian Cancer Society.

The family would like to thank the staff of Chartwell Retirement Home in Burlington, Ontario, Parkland Retirement in Truro, NS, and the Palliative Care Unit at both the Colchester Hospital and the Aberdeen Hospital for their kindness and care.
