Betty Rankin

Obituary of Betty Rankin

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not parish, but have everlasting life.”

Elizabeth “Betty” (MacDearmid) Rankin left her earthly home for her heavenly one on May 22, 2022 at the age of 92.  Mom was born January 25, 1930 in Westville, N.S.  She was the only surviving child of the late Leonard and Sarah (Murray) MacDearmid.

Mom’s steadfast faith carried her through a life of hardships and great losses.  Her greatest wish was for ALL her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be saved.  Mom lived to see many of her prayers answered and I would suspect she is still praying for us.

Mom is survived by her daughter Beth (Dan) Campbell, Trenton; her son Matthew (Crystal) Trenton;  granddaughters Bonnie Jean, Heather, Danielle and Sonya Campbell; grandsons Rocky, Kevin, James and Hudson Rankin; great-grandchildren Daniel, Emily, Ryan, Campbell, Frankie, Luke, Tyler, Lee and Logan; her sisters-in-law Mabel and Delphene Rankin; many nieces and nephews. Mom is also survived by her two oldest and dearest friends of over 60 years, Aggie Cahoon and Nancy Humphreys.

Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband Bud; her son Jimmie;  sisters-in-law Evelyn McKay and Jean Davenport;  brothers-in-law Bobby and Billy Rankin, Don McKay and Corkie Davenport.

Our family wishes to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Ivey’s Terrace, Trenton, for the love and care they gave our mother.  Mom felt the love and we will be forever grateful.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville.  A family graveside committal will be held in Little Harbour at a later date.
